Enterprise Cloud Platform
The BrightHost Enterprise Cloud Platform is a managed virtual infrastructure built to the highest standards. It has been specifically designed to host high-traffic sites and mission-critical applications. Built in compliance with comprehensive industry standards. our platform and processes are regularly reviewed and inspected by leading auditors and security bodies.
More Features. Less Confusion.
We believe that dedicated server hosting should be simple. Typically when purchasing a dedicated server you will be offered countless optional features at additional cost. Yet these ‘options’ are items we consider mandatory in any serious hosting environment.
Our unique Cloud Platform has been built to protect our customers, their brand, and their extremely valuable data. Everything you would expect to see in an enterprise-grade facility is here and is managed for you to the highest standards.
- Defense in Depth Security
- Fully managed daily backups of the entire server
- 24×7 server health monitoring
- Rapidly scalable infrastructure
- Support from qualified engineers with years of experience
- Capacity to add advanced features like load balancing or PCI DSS compliance
Platform Features
Included Security
BrightHost offers a vast array of included security features, some of which are detailed below. We do not believe that security should be optional and you will not find a more comprehnesive standard security offering in the dedicated server market.
- Intrusion Prevention
- Tripwire
- Scanning
- Anti-Virus
- Bi-Directional Firewall
- Software Updates
- Isolation
- Culture

- Inspects all incoming unencrypted traffic
- Automatically blocks and alerts on known threats
- Prevents Denial of Service attacks
An Intrusion Prevention System or IPS is a network security device which scans all incoming unencrypted data for signatures unique to malicious traffic or intrusion attempts. An IPS also detects malformed requests used in Denial of Service attacks. BrightHost’s Intrusion Prevention System will automatically block these threats and alert us to thier origin so that we may respond accordingly.
- Regularly scans critical system files
- Raises alerts 24×7 when detecting any change
- Helps to identify and clean malicious software
A tripwire system is used to detect the presence of an intruder inside a system. This ensures that if other security functions are bypassed it is still possible to identify and clean the threat. A tripwire is a key part of any defense-in-depth strategy.

- Automated network and application vulnerability scan
- Leading global network security vendor
- Ensures systems are not exposed to new and evolving threats
Any dedicated cloud server hosted within our network will automatically undergo a weekly vulnerability scan. This scan is performed by an independent security vendor to test that all of our protection systems are working correctly and that any new threats are being defended against.
- Protects against virus, worm, and malware threats
- Centrally controlled and regularly updated
- 24×7 alerting on identified threats with automatic quarantine
Managed Anti-Virus is installed on every Windows Cloud Server with status and software updates controlled centrally. This ensures that all hosted servers are protected from all current virus, worm, and malware threats.
(Windows Cloud Servers Only)

- Heavily secured initial configuration
- Blocks incoming and outgoing traffic
- Prevents reinforcement of malicious code
In the unlikely event that malicious software is installed into a server, it must ‘phone home’ once installed to receive updates and attack instructions. By blocking all outgoing network traffic other than specific exceptions, our firewall solution provides yet another layer of protection by neutralising any intrusion before it can reinforce itself.

- Patches all major operating systems as well as applications
- Virtual snapshots ensure data integrity if patch fails
- No administrator access required by BrightHost
A system which is secure today is not guaranteed to be secure tomorrow. New exploits and methods of attack are being developed all the time. BrightHost’s patching solution, based on VMware Update Manager, will automatically download and install updates of all major operating systems and applications once a month without the need for customer engagement. Virtual snapshots are taken before each update so that if anything goes wrong, we can safely restore to an earlier state.

- Customers separated into secure private networks (VLANs)
- No communication between customer networks
It’s not always right to share. By employing Virtual LANs and strict network controls we ensure that any virtual servers in our environment are entirely isolated from all other servers in the environment. This guarantees that in the unlikely event that another server becomes infected, it poses no threat your own.

- Ongoing committment to staff security training
- Business operations managed in compliance with several industry standards
- Audited network security documentation and procedures
Security begins in the office and no network security plan is complete without training and policies established to aid staff in making informed decisions about how to manage and response to network security threats. We work hard to ensure that our team is kept up to date on the latest threats and techniques to ensure all-round security.
